Always there for us...
The parable of the prodigal son is often used as a way of explaining the great love that God, our heavenly father has for us. The young son took his inheritance early and left the family home behind to have fun. Then when the money ran out he realised how selfish he had been, he realised that he had abandoned a family who cared for him, a father who protected him and he decided to go home and ask his father to forgive him for his mistakes.
Sometimes we turn away from God because we think that we can do things on our own, we look to other things to bring us happiness, so we buy lots of stuff, we advance our careers, we enjoy the admiration of others.
Whatever you seek in your life, please don’t forget that God loves you, for who you are. Remember that you are his beloved son or daughter.
There may be a time when the stuff stops bringing you joy, when your career doesn’t sustain you, when the admiration of others doesn’t give you the validation you seek. When you feel lost remember that God is always with you, he is waiting patiently to guide and encourage you. God won’t force you to have a relationship with him, but he will never stop having one with you. When you are ready, when you are looking for your heavenly father remember his door is always open, he is always calling to you “please come home”.
