Stopped in our tracks!
What a fascinating man Paul was! The New Testament gives us ‘before and after’ pictures of him, and his story tells us so much.
Before: He was a devout Jew, a good Pharisee, and with excellent training - he knew his Bible (our Old Testament). How he hated the Christian faith and sincerely believed that this movement was dangerous to Judaism. His answer was to persecute and kill Christians - without mercy!
On his way to doing just that something dramatic happened. He was stopped in his tracks… by Jesus Himself.
Not only was he stopped in his tracks, but meeting Jesus personally changed his thoughts and directions completely; so much so that no other person, apart form Jesus Himself, shaped the history of Christianity quite like him.
After: Paul lives and breathes and writes about how God’s forgiveness transforms. How God can change us and use us for His glory, and how character traits can be turned around and used for the glory of God.
Paul’s life and story should speak to us today. Do we need to meet with Jesus? Do we need Jesus to stop us in our tracks and be transformed? Do we give Jesus permission to change us around?
What can each of us do to ensure we are following Jesus, and not our own decisions which are wrong in His eyes?
Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ beneath me
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down,
Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who
thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who
speaks of me
